HOW TO ENTER
Entry to the Bolton 10K is a simple process. The relevant fees are:
£15 to affiliated UK Athletics club members,
or
£17 to unaffiliated runners.
To qualify for the cheaper entry fee, you MUST be a registered member of a running club affiliated to UK Athletics. This is for insurance purposes – membership of other ‘clubs’ or groups (e.g. a gym or fitness centre) does not count. If you enter as an affiliated runner, please indicate your club and UKA Registration Number on the entry form.
Entries are accepted via both online methods and the traditional postal process! To avoid disappointment, it is recommended you book your place early:
ONLINE, via the web…
You can enter online at BookitZone
Please note that an additional processing fee may be charged, but no stamps and other postage costs are incurred. Assuming the entry limit is not reached beforehand, the closing date for online applications is the Wednesday immediately BEFORE raceday.
OFFLINE, via post…

Your contact details will not be passed on to any third parties, so please have confidence in providing an email address to confirm your entry and receive further race details.
You DO NOT need to enclose a self-addressed envelope (SAE) for your race number and chip. These will only be available for collection at Race Registration on the day. Assuming the entry limit is not reached beforehand, the closing date for postal applications is the Sunday preceding (seven days BEFORE) raceday.
CONDITIONS
Under UKA rules, the minimum age for a 10km race is 15.
The Bolton 10K race is strictly limited to 850 entrants. Once the limit is reached, we cannot accept further entries under any circumstances. So get your entry in early!
We regret that self-propelled wheelchairs and hand-cycles are not permitted as parts of the course may be unsuitable.
For reasons of safety, participants agree to ‘run’ the course and not use roller skates/bicycles/wheelbarrows or other mobility related objects e.g. skipping ropes. ‘Props’ and costumes that may inhibit others cannot be used. Dogs (and other pets) are also not permitted.
The use of headphones for MP3 players is strongly discouraged and may result in disqualification. Marshal instructions, fellow participants and other users of the course/highways cannot be heard.
BUH&AC makes every effort to ensure that this race is held as scheduled. However, in the event of causes outside our control triggering a race cancellation, please note that our policy is to not encourage the refund of entry fees. As is common with other ‘community-inclusive appropriately-priced’ running events organised by athletic clubs, we would hope to attempt to reschedule the event and offer a carry-over instead. Where this is not possible, we would hope entrants will appreciate that an event of this scale is many months in the planning with considerable attendant cost, much of which is either spent or committed well ahead of the event.
Entries cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase unless the event is cancelled. If the event is cancelled (for any reason) you may seek a refund of the entry fee. Personal arrangements including travel, accommodation or hospitality relating to the Bolton 10K which have been arranged by you are at your own risk. Liability for the cancellation or rescheduling of an Event will be limited to the refund as set out in these terms and conditions. We will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage of your personal belongings, other than caused as a result of our negligence or other breach of statutory duty.
ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY FOR THE 10K RACE.
Due to data entry limitations and medical requirements, we regret that we also cannot transfer entries if someone is unable to make the race. Entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be deferred.
FUN RUN
The Fun-Run follows a route approximately one mile in length and begins at the earlier time of 9am.
It is an open-age run and ideal for the supporters of Bolton 10K runners, with an emphasis on under-15s.
The relevant fees are:
£5 for entry on the day
Adults may accompany their children (and are encouraged to do so for under-8s) at no extra charge.
The route is traffic-free and flat.
As indicated by the route line (coloured orange) and waypoints [letters] in the Venue Map and Route Map (see the RACE section), the start and finish are the same as for the 10K race, located on the outside running track [A].
Exiting the track after approximately 200m [W], the route goes due north along the park road just past a park bench [X]. The ends of two football pitches are crossed [Y] before skirting the length of the pitches and joining the pavement close to the stadium [Z]. The route re-enters the stadium [V-W] and continues clockwise around the track to the finish.
Marshals will indicate all turning points.
